What is Open-weight model?

A model whose trained weights are publicly available for download, inspection, and use, as opposed to closed/proprietary models accessible only through APIs. Open-weight does not necessarily mean open-source — the training code, data, and methodology may not be public. Examples: Llama, Mistral, Gemma, Qwen.
